Day 1 Update

The first day after the incredible send of for the start of Project Fear was brutal.

Within the first 24hrs everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. In a crash tack I ended up dropping the winch handle which hit the screen of the chart plotter cracking it. My compass decided to stop working meaning i had to navigate using the handheld. My additional 25ltr water tanks broke free of were they were tied up flooding the inside of the cabin and getting everything wet. Before even really getting going it felt like this trip was trying to break me. The conditions were also testing me, with 30kts of breeze with a south westerly direction a tricky sea state formed. This meant lots of the boat being bashed through the waves. The constant movement and all the bouncing caused the anchor to break free. To re-secure it i had to go on foredeck which left me soaked, cold and physically exhausted. All of that left me struggling physically and feeling pretty low emotionally. As always the only thing for it was to take it step by step and breath by breath. Eat some chocolate, have a cup of tea and then regroup before pushing on.
